SYNOPSIS
For many bartenders and hospitality workers, an eventual goal is to open their own bar or a restaurant; and for some, the pinnacle of that dream would be to do so in New York City, long held as one of the global epicenters of the bar world. Everything is possible, but nothing comes easy. Juliette is now in the middle of this journey, and will share her insights on the trials and tribulations, challenges and solutions, to opening her upcoming bar Schmuck. in the East Village of New York. Whether you are a bartender, manager, or owner, you'll have the chance to hear about the fun - and not-so-fun - realities of the path towards opening your own bar.
BIOGRAPHY
Originally from the south of France, Juliette Larrouy transitioned from a successful culinary career to become a standout figure in the world of cocktails.
She began bartending at Paris’ Le Syndicat, running the renowned bar for three years before moving to Barcelona in early 2020. There, she joined the team at Two Schmucks, contributing to the bar’s meteoric rise and international acclaim.
In 2022, after placing No.7 on The World’s 50 Best Bars, Juliette and her business partner Moe Aljaff left the bar to bring the Schmuck. brand to the new world. Scheduled for Autumn 2024, Schmuck., which will open in the East Village, is already one of the most hotly anticipated global openings of the year.
Her signature style seamlessly blends her culinary knowledge with world class technique to create innovative, flavour-forward cocktails served with ‘five star dive bar’ hospitality.
