SYNOPSIS

Join Dale DeGroff and taste your way through the history and evolution of the drink that became the dry martini. Cato Alexander, Jerry Thomas, Harry Johnson, Cocktail Bill Boothby, Tom Daly, and Charley MaHoney ... all legendary 19th century bartenders who changed the way we drink; but not a single one of them or any other bartender, known or unknown, sat down one day and said, "I've got the perfect drink with gin and vermouth and I'm going to call it the Martini".; it simply did not happen.

BIOGRAPHY

James Beard Award Winning mixologist, Dale DeGroff developed his extraordinary techniques and talent tending bar at the legendary Rainbow Room, where in the 1980's, he pioneered a gourmet approach to recreating the classic cocktails. DeGroff has since been credited with reviving the profession and setting off a cocktail explosion that continues to transform the industry.

A leading trainer and sought after authority in the beverage industry, DeGroff is the author of two best-selling cocktail books: The Essential Cocktail, winner of the 2009 TOTC Spirit Awards, and his seminal classic: The Craft of the Cocktail, winner of the 2002 IACP Julia Child Award. A 20th anniversary edition, The New Craft of the Cocktail was released in Oct. of 2020.

Notorious raconteur, storyteller, and saloon singer, DeGroff presents at cocktail festivals around the world as well as at the Museum of the American Cocktail which he co-founded in 2004, and which boasts the most eclectic collections of cocktail artifacts, books, and memorabilia in the world.
